Join us for an open forum discussion on the issues surrounding the holiday. Should the name be changed? What do people hope to achieve? How can people best express their views?
 

Indigenous Issues in Public History and Community Engagement: A Conversation 

Location: Mawhinney 345
Time: 6-7:30 p.m.


Special guest - and OCC alum - Nicole Abrams (Onondaga Nation) will join us to discuss her work in public history and education. As the former director of the Skä•noñh Great Law of Peace Center, Ms. Abrams worked with Onondaga Nation, local academics, the county, and the Onondaga Historical Association to center Haudenosaunee perspectives and history in that public educational space. Now, as a participant in the Onondaga Language Nest Program, she works with the Nation community to helps preserve the Onondaga language across generations. Please join us for this important conversation.

Tammy Bluewolf-Kennedy (Oneida Nation, Wolf clan) - Admissions Counselor and Native American Liaison - from Syracuse University will be on campus to give a presentation about the Haudenosaunee Promise Scholarship.
