Congressman at Children's Learning Center
Students in OCC's Children's Learning Center presented Congressman John Katko (NY-R-24) a gift for his support of student-parents. He promised to hang their artwork on his office wall.

Low-income student-parents who depend on child care while attending OCC received much needed support from Washington earlier this year when Congress increased the amount of funding to the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) program by more than 230 percent, from approximately $15 million to $50 million. CCAMPIS provides additional assistance to student-parents pursuing college degrees. The sole federal program dedicated to assisting student-parents had not seen an increase in funding in a decade-and-a-half.

On October 11 Congressman John Katko (R-24-NY) visited Onondaga Community College's Children's Learning Center and was thanked for his support of the funding increase. Children who attend the Center presented him with a framed painting. Congressman Katko promised the children he would hang their art work on his office wall.
